algarve

The orange trees, almond trees and carob change the landscape of the Algarve in different shades throughout the year. Portugal South is a world apart. Here more than anywhere else is still alive the Islamic heritage, expressed in many different ways: the terraces and chimneys of the traditional houses, the wives, how to cultivate the land, the strong presence of orange groves and almond trees as well as language with a strong pronounced.

Another feature that makes the Algarve different is the light that this region has, even in winter. The brightness of the sunlight reflected in the bright blue sea, white houses and walls, in golden sands. The climate that is warm in the Algarve providing the mildest winters in Portugal. The average temperature of the sea in the Algarve in summer is between 21 and 24 degrees centigrade.

The coastline of the Algarve enjoys justified fame, here in and abroad. There are beaches for all tastes, from the endless sand, small shells among the rocky cliffs. But the truth is that the region is not confined to the coastal strip. Between the sea and the mountains there is a whole world to discover where and gradually will be claiming a quality tourism, respectful of nature. The Serra de Monchique is from this point of view, a place apart. But also, Salir, Barranco do Velho, Querença, or Cachopo Ameixial are places with names to be withheld.

And what about cities? In the Algarve are exemplarily preserved historical centers and where it feels to walk on without end. Faro with the old town of Tavira town white roofs of scissors, Silves with its Islamic roots, Lagos another exemplary case of balance between the tourist vocation and respect by the roots, Vila Real de Santo António, with its low Pombal reminiscent of that of Lisbon , Portimão the ancient capital of the Algarve.

The food is the icing on the cake. The table Algarve is fresh and colorful, much favored by the bounty of the seas and soils of the South
