Dubai , born and reborn in the desert oil, Dubai is a city-state enviable sought after by thousands of tourists. The secret of their success lies in blending the finest ingredients from the past, present and future. A recipe for good traditions, luxury and modernity below. Land of fascinating contrasts, appears in the Western imagination as a unique and exotic destination.
The desert occupies almost the entire territory of the autonomous state of the UAE. There are snow-capped mountains, beaches or palm trees, exotic tropical forests or lakes. However, other countries owners of these natural attractions can not have the same volume of tourists that Dubai draws on its territory.
The secret of this spectacular success is the rapid development of infrastructure, the "marketing" aggressive and variety of tourism. The emirate is known as a destination of charming contrasts. At first glance, it appears as a dynamic center of business, where Rolls Royces and Mercedes fold the corners of skyscrapers that "shout" "design" and modernity. On the other hand, lives up a trip to the past, when the city was still a village of fishermen and pearl gatherers, and life was simple and without "stress". These contrasts give Dubai the personality and flavor: a cosmopolitan society with an international lifestyle, yet with a culture deeply rooted in Islamic traditions of Arabia.
Cosmopolitan taste reveals itself in the middle of a region of sand, sea and sun. If a century ago was a peaceful town on the edge of the water, inhabited by nomadic camel breeders, fishermen and gatherers of pearls today is an ultra-modern metropolis with skyscrapers of futuristic architecture where people wander around the world . Some even call it the Manhattan of Arabia.
Dubai is the city-state's number one tourism and business in the Middle East and the second largest of the seven United Arab Emirates. Concentrated mainly in the area of its delicate cove, because most of its 78 000 km2 of territory is desert, is actually comprised of two towns separated by the channel Creek, Bur Dubai and Deira. Although this is connected by two bridges and a tunnel, the most enjoyable way to cross the channel is to take a water taxi, the "abbra." Both areas have moved "souks" but the historic center of Dubai is in Deira. But the bright and flashy office buildings in Bur Dubai threaten to become the nerve center of the city-state.
Wisely, the tourism industry has created the first facilities and resources and then called on customers to take advantage of them. The modern airport, with the futuristic terminal Sheikh Rashid, a complete transportation network, an efficient communications system, the financial sector stable, with the various historic districts, all contributed to make Dubai an attractive city where everything works like a charm !
Although little is known about the history of this area during archaeological explorations found some material that would suggest that the earliest foundations date back over 4000 years. Other evidence linking people of the UAE and the mysterious Magan civilization of the Bronze Age.
At the end of the sixteenth century the Portuguese tried to control the local trade, but in 1766, the British gain control of the region around the channel. In 1820, the United Arab Emirates are under the authority of the British Empire, after a few attacks on the fleet of George IV. It then signed a treaty where the local Arab rulers accepted the military protection of the British and promised to curb piracy in the seas.
With the discovery of oil in the Fateh field in 1966, which resulted in a great "boom" economy, the future of Dubai has changed. They gained independence on 2 December 1971 and since then is one of seven autonomous states that are part of the federation of the UAE.
