Pirenópolis is a nice little historic town, founded in 1727 by the Pioneers. It is 150 km and 130 km from Brasilia to Goiania. Its main attractions are the historic buildings of colonial architecture, and the many beautiful waterfalls and traditional festivals.

Among the main colonial buildings stand out from the Mother Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, the oldest in the state of Goiás, built between 1728 and 1732.

The waterfalls are more than twenty-located around the city, can not fail to visit the waterfall of Lazarus and the Santa Maria (also known as Cachoeira do Inferno), both located on private property, the Vargem Grande Ecological Reserve.

The Cavalhadas were first staged in 1826 at the initiative of Father Manuel da Luz Amancio, and represent the struggle between the Moors and Christians in 800 AD The party began to come in off the array, but over time, moved to the Field of Cavalhadas, which are mounted boxes, stands and bleachers.
