A series of beaches, each with its merits, extends north on the east side of Devonport, but the Beach Cheltenham is the closest.
Popular with families who want to spend a day out of Auckland , it is a safe beach with areas for picnics. It is worth making a trek to North Head, a promontory, in fact, lies at the southern end of the beach.
The location is good and the beach is a beautiful natural beach. The site is available to the public in general, no restriction as opposed to some nearby beaches. If you get up early, this beach offers a beautiful sunrise and later during the day can enjoy the pleasant breeze from the northeast side.
It has a spectacular panoramic view of 360 degrees on Cheltenham Beach, the harbor , the island of Rangitoto and Auckland . For it is a very lovely beach, do not forget to take time to know Devonport, with its beautiful architecture and excellent coffee.
Auckland International Airport is 45 minutes by road from the city. The ferry is the easiest way to get from downtown Auckland to Davenport, leaving the beach after a short walk away. Boats depart daily every 30 minutes from early morning until the evening of the Ferry Building by Davenport Wharf. The summer and early autumn are the best times for a visit to New Zealand .
